In November, despite a slight slowdown, seafood exports still reached nearly 924 million USD, an increase of 17% over the same period in 2023. Overall, in the first 11 months of the year, this industry earned nearly 9.2 billion USD from foreign markets. , increased by 11.5%.
According to Vasep, with the current growth momentum, the seafood industry can complete the goal of reaching 10 billion USD in exports, growing 11.5% compared to 2023. In particular, shrimp and pangasius continue to be the two pillars. major, bringing in 4 billion USD and 2 billion USD respectively.
In the past 11 months, shrimp, pangasius and tuna were the top 3 products bringing in the highest turnover. In addition, some products such as crabs, molluscs and octopus squid also recorded high growth. Of which, crabs and shellfish grew by 60% and 66%, respectively.
In addition, this year’s fisheries industry also strongly developed by-products such as fishmeal. Exports of this product reached 220.4 million USD in the first 10 months and are forecast to reach 264.6 million USD for the whole year, with the Chinese market purchasing nearly 90%.
Vasep believes that 2024 is a promising year for Vietnam’s seafood industry, when exports continue to achieve impressive achievements, not only in value but also in the diversity and stability of markets and products. export products.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, seafood is ranked 8th in the top commodity groups with the highest export turnover, from the beginning of the year to November 15. Products with greater export value include: computers – components; phones – components; machinery – obedience; textiles; footwear; wood and wood products.
